Fruit

We sell soft and top fruit sourced from Specialist growers, to ensure that we supply you with good quality plants that are true to variety. We buy these in mostly bare root, once the plants have become dormant after the first hard frost. (some varieties however, will only be available potted).

Bareroot is the most economical way of buying fruit plants. As soon as possible after purchase, soak the roots in water for about half an hour before planting, to ensure that they are well hydrated. Plant according to the variety, incorporating Bonemeal and organic matter in the planting hole, top fruit may require staking. Water well and the plants will soon establish. If possible, newly planted fruit trees should not be allowed to fruit the first year. This will allow them time to establish, and ensure better yields in the future.
